Solar electricity is now less expensive (on a life-cycle basis) than continuing to pay for electricity from the grid.

Solar Electric Systems

If you want to get electricity from the sun, Energy Harvester can integrate solar electric systems into your home, business and institutions such as schools, churches or governmental buildings.  We position you to get the maximum incentives and set up net metering to get credit for the power produced.  This saves money each month, adds value to property, and provides protection from the rising costs of fossil fuels.  Using the sun has multiple additional benefits such as not polluting the air and retaining more revenue in the local economy to create jobs.

Life-Cycle Cost on a 30 Year Basis
Residential Solar Electric life-cycle cost is less than $0.08 per kWh. Current residential electrical rates are $.14 to $.32 per kWh depending upon consumption. Commercial Solar Electric life-cycle cost is less than $0.06 per kWh. Current commercial rates are $.16 to $.18 per kWh depending on season and loads.

Solar Electric System Typical Costs
Gross Cost of components, including design and installation as well as permit, taxes and warranty              $7.50   per Watt
California Solar Initiative Expected Performance Bases Buydown (EPBB)                        <$1.90> per Watt
Cost after EPBB                                       $5.60   per Watt
30% Federal Investment Tax Credit            <$1.68> per Watt
Net cost to residential customer               $3.92   per Watt
30% accelerated depreciation          <$1.18> per Watt
Net cost to commercial customer              $2.74    per Watt

Good Return on Investment

Investments in solar electric systems have a 12% to 24% internal rate of return—better than bank or bond interest and more dependable than stocks.  Money saved in electric bills will more than pay for a loan to purchase the system—saving the owner money each month, right from the beginning.

You will be able to sell surplus electricity to the grid if you produce more than you use. The value of the system is typically greater than the net cost to build—providing a profit for the owner if property is sold.

Act Now
The CSI Performance Based Buydown is still substantial (up to $2.50/watt for non profit) but will go down. We can reserve your Buydown now. Federal Investment Tax Credits are now 30% with no cap and no ATM limitations.  Businesses can depreciate renewable energy assets.  Financing is available at low rates.  Renewable energy systems are secure investments.  There are no income taxes on solar electricity or solar hot water since they are avoided expenses.  Renewable energy assets add market value to property, but are exempt from property taxes.  Solar electricity provides shelter from raising electrical costs.  Electric rates for residential and small business customers will continue to increase substantially.
